Gloria Valdez ID’d as Woman Killed in Lubbock Bicycle Accident near Avenue Q and 26th Street

Lubbock, Texas (May 16, 2019) – The woman who was killed in a hit-and-run accident late Tuesday night in Lubbock has been identified as Gloria Valdez, 52, according to the authorities.

The crash was reported shortly after 11:15 p.m. May 14, near Avenue Q and 26th Street.

Police said they believe Valdez was riding her bicycle when a vehicle struck her. Valdez was taken to a hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased. Her dog died at the scene.

The driver who struck Valdez failed to stop at the scene. Police on Wednesday located and impounded a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban at the parking lot of a local Motel 6. The vehicle is believed to be involved in the incident.

Police said they are looking for the driver involved in the hit-and-run.
