47-Year-Old Christopher Castro Killed in Rankin Big Rig Crash on SH 349

Upton County, Texas (May 15, 2019) – A 47-year-old driver died in a collision involving two big rigs near Rankin in Upton County on Monday.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision took place on SH 349 May 13.

The investigators said a truck-tractor pulling a semi-trailer was going northbound on SH 349 when it lost control and traveled into the southbound lane, colliding with an oncoming Peterbilt truck.

The driver of the truck-tractor, Christopher Castro, 47, of San Angelo, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver and passenger of the Peterbilt sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Rankin County Hospital.
