Carlos Moncada Cruz ID’d as Man Killed in Austin Multi-Vehicle Crash on U.S. 290 West and RM 1826

Austin, Texas (May 14, 2019) – The man who was killed in a crash involving multiple vehicles last month near Oak Hill has been identified as Carlos Moncada Cruz, 19, according to the Austin police.

The crash occurred at U.S. 290 West and RM 1826 just before 7 a.m. April 18.

Police said an SUV pulling out of traffic made a turn on US 290 and collided with a silver car traveling on the highway.

The impact caused the silver car to slide across the eastbound lanes of the highway and was hit by a truck.

Cruz was identified as the driver of the silver car. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the truck was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

Police said intoxication was unlikely a factor in the wreck.

Police cited the driver of the SUV for disobeying a posted sign.
